Congress's Telangana government returned Rs 100 crore to Adani Group, the fund was for the university
The Congress government of Telangana has returned Rs 100 crore to Adani Group. Congress has taken this decision after the allegations of bribery against Adani Group in America.
The Congress government of Telangana has returned a fund of Rs 100 crore to the company after allegations of bribery were leveled against the Adani Group in the US. This fund was taken for the purpose of developing skill capabilities among the youth, which the Congress government has now refused to accept. India Today reported that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has refused to accept any kind of money from the Adani Group. Earlier in the US, industrialist Gautam Adani and seven others have been accused of bribing Indian government officials to get contracts related to solar energy. At the same time, the Adani Group has denied this, calling the allegations baseless.
Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said that the state government has not taken any money for Young India Skill University from any organisation including Adani Group. "The Telangana government has not taken any funds or donations from Adani Group for Young India Skill University. Yesterday, the government wrote to Adani Group saying that they will not accept Rs 100 crore offered by them for the skill university," Reddy said. "Rahul Gandhi has clearly said that the state government or the central government should invite tenders. Tenders will be allotted democratically with due process, whether it is Adani, Ambani or Tata," the chief minister added. The chief minister said that several companies have given money to Young India Skill University. "Young India Skill University has been funded by several companies. Similarly, Adani Group has also offered to give us Rs 100 crore. I would like to reiterate the state government's decision that it will not accept Rs 100 crore from Adani Group," he said.
There was a controversy over the donation received by Telangana from Adani Group
It is worth noting that on October 18, Gautam Adani handed over a cheque of Rs 100 crore to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for the establishment of Young India Skill University. The Chief Minister's Office of Telangana had informed about this by posting on X. After this news came out, the opposition parties of the state had sharply criticized the Congress. BJP and Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) had accused the Congress of hypocrisy in the Adani case. Taking a dig at the Congress, BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya said, "Despite Rahul Gandhi shouting 'Adani Adani' all day, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy went ahead and accepted 'donation' from Gautam Adani."
PM Modi is spoiling the image of the country- Kharge
Meanwhile, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge targeted the government after the proceedings of both the houses of Parliament were adjourned and claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who accused the opposition of creating 'hooliganism', is tarnishing the country's image by supporting industrialist Gautam Adani Group. He has said that the matter of 'financial irregularities' related to the Adani Group is serious and the opposition wants to raise this issue to save the country. Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Today we raised the issue of Adani in Parliament. There are serious allegations of corruption, bribery and financial irregularities against the Adani Group, which we wanted to put before the House." He said that the government did not discuss the matter and the proceedings were adjourned.
